Look, this movie is everything that is cliche about a summer blockbuster. However, since Guillermo, we're on a first name basis, is the Anti-Michael Bay. He can take a movie that is based on big fights and create something more than what is on the screen.
Charlie Day was a pleasant surprise as the scientist researching the Kaiju monsters providing laughs with a reasoning on why certain strategies cannot work. It also features my favorite movie trope, the best XYZ has to return because nobody does it better!
