Instant Pick of the Week: Safety Not Guaranteed

In this romantic comedy Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Rec) and Jake Johnson (The New Girl) investigate a man who posted a newspaper article about needing a companion to travel back in time.

The premise based on a real world help wanted, the original is pictured below.

Mark Duplass (The League) plays a lovable eccentric who really believes he can travel back in time, even though he dresses as if it is still the 90s. The movie is not a over the top funny as the TV shows the movie leads star, but there is still plenty of laughs and plenty of heartwarming moments.

Instant Pick of the Week: The Interrupters

After the violent 4th of July in Chicago, I think it's important to show that there are people trying to fight it.

This documentary follows former gang members who try to stop violence from escalating. It isn't interested in stopping gangs, they just want the deaths to stop. The gang violence is a growing and seemingly unstoppable issue in Chicago, these heroes try their hardest to make a difference.

Really, if you have a connection to Chicago watch it.

Instant Pick of the Week: Tucker and Dale Versus Evil

What would you do if a bunch of college kids came onto your lake house and think that you are trying to kill them?

Find out what happens in this hilarious horror comedy featuring Alan Tudyk, aka Steve the Pirate, and breakthrough star Tyler Labine.

I do not want to give anything away, it is really an entertaining movie that deserves more viewers.

Instant Pick of the Week: Batman: Under the Red Hood

I have tried my best to make the instant pick of the week to be from a different genre.  DC Comics have recently concentrated on creating adult animated movies. Batman: Under the Red Hood is a great example that the medium doesn't matter as long as you have a good story.

Trust me, give this movie a shot and you will not be disappointed.

Instant Pick of the Week: Blue Collar

This movie from 1978 is about the difficulties of union auto workers in Detroit in the seventies. With a feeling of disrespect from the Car Companies and the Union that is supposed to look over them Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel,  and Yaphet Koto decide to rob their local Union safe. They don't find money, but they find a much larger bargaining chip.

This is a dramedy and will not be your typical Richard Pryor flick. Grab yourself some blue collar beer and enjoy a movie about the difficulty of the working man.
